While most of us know how important it is to take care of our skin at all time, most of us seems to forget to do so when travelling by plane. That’s a big no-no sister!  Your skin is much more vulnerable when you’re way up there and right here I’m going to show you why and how.

What people don’t realize is that going up in the air can really dry your skin out (which can spells double trouble if you have either dry, sensitive, or aging skin). The air in the cabin is dry as its circulated, within the plane, thus it will suck up any moisture wherever it can find, and that means your skin.

Oily skin will get greasier while other skin types will get drier. Period.

While I don’t have the right to stop you from travelling by plane (you probably spend your working life in it) I can dish out some pointers to keep your skin moist and supple well until the touchdown.

Use a serum before boarding the plane, preferably an hour beforehand. As the air in the plane is super drying, a hydrating serum is your best choice, which it will deliver intense nourishment while keeping the moisture lock in. While you’re on it, apply a moisturizer on top of serum for an all-out protection.

A word on moisturizer, opt for topical ones rather than spray on. Logically speaking, as you spray, the air in the cabin will literally rob off water vapor containing in the mist, so obviously your skin won’t get any hydration it needs. Yikes!

Being on the air also means sun protection is paramount than ever.  A broad protection, high SPF is your weapon to guard the skin from sun’s damaging rays.

Drink plenty of water to hydrate your body from within by aiming at least a glass for each hour and of course, lemon water is also lovely for hydration drink. And please, save your cocktails until you reach the ground as a glass of alcohol in plane is equivalent to three in the ground.

As mentioned before, oily skin will get oilier, so it’s a good idea to carry a pack of blotting paper to wipe up the oil produced. Dab a little and you’re done!

After touchdown, it’s essential that you have some intensive skin pampering right away. Use a mild scrub or peel to remove dead skin cells on the surface (the skin will have way too much of it during your stay in a cabin).  Cover up with a hydrating facial mask to give your skin a rest.

I can guarantee that by doing these tips religiously; your skin will look and stay fabulous even when you have to jet set all around the world.
