Blur Creams? What Are They?

Ever since Benefit had introduced the heaven-sent blur cream called Dr. Feelgood, women have been using it mainly for covering up fine lines marred here and there. And now, thanks to Instagram, a ‘filtered’ makeup look is what you need – to hide any imaginable imperfections, within seconds.

Basically, blur creams are made with light reflecting particles in a clever manner that tricks the eye of the beholder so that all you see is an even glow from the user (and hey, they ain’t no cheating!). Think shimmer effect, but with more subtle and provides enough coverage and glow.

Currently, they ranked on top of CC cream, after BBs and tinted moisturizers, which mean you can consider blur cream as a heavy duty makeup product.

And while before we rely on Benefit for blurring the lines (or perhaps smearing Vaseline on the camera lens?), nowadays different varieties of the cream have come up a complete with skin care ingredients for added benefits (pun not intended). Depending on the formula, you may apply the cream as a makeup base or after makeup so test out and see which order works best for the look you need.

For example, providing a double-duty in fighting wrinkles, Lancôme Visionnaire 1 Minute Blur Smoothing Skincare Instant Perfector contains an extremely gentle kind of retinol called retinyl palmitate and antioxidants to exfoliate – fighting lines while covering them up! And the good thing with this blur cream, you can wear it on top of moisturizer instead of the usual serum for a wholesome, gentle glow effect.

L’oréal Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream SPF 30 is made to reduce the appearance of pores and uneven textures, apart from wrinkles and creating a soft, matte finish. The good thing about this blur cream is you can wear it after moisturizer or under foundation to create a smooth appearance. Plus, it contains sunscreen benefits as an added bonus!

For a simple and instant cover up effect, Garnier 5 Second Blur Skin Renew Instant Smoother, designed to give you near-instant effect of blurring the wrinkles, hides pores, and brightens up the whole complexion. And no, this one doesn’t have any added skin care benefits but this might just what you need to do the job! Wear it as a makeup base and see how your whole look looks complete.

Try it out and see it for yourself. Who knows? A blur cream might be your beauty secret and you have no problems to blur the lines for a glowing and smooth skin. Our #1 blur cream for December goes to Loreal`s very own Revitalift Magic Blur.
